The establishment of ASEAN Network on Aquatic Animal Health Centres (ANAAHC) will benefit to member countries for a regional contact point for aquatic animal health by providing more generalized support and assist in emergency response. The ASEAN Members will have a focal point for networking among national aquatic animal health agencies or laboratories. The activities related to aquatic diseases will be strengthened through a series of training workshops. The ANAAHC will also facilitate the on-going regional harmonization of the FAO/NACA ‘Asia Regional Technical Guidelines on Health Management for the Responsible Movement of Live Aquatic Animals’ by improvement of aquatic diseases to young scientists in ASEAN Nations. The capability improvements for aquatic disease diagnosis will certainly facilitate implementation of the 6 major components of the Technical Guideline in ASEAN Member Countries. The aquatic disease surveillance and control system among member counties will be improved and harmonized for safe trade inside or outside the region.
